Carol has been a resident of West Ewell for almost 30 years. She is married and has two grown up daughters who attended local schools. Since completing her first 4 year term as a Borough Councillor Carol has served on the Environment Committee and the Epsom & Walton Downs Consultative Committee.

Carol’s interests are mainly concerned with the environment and improving the quality of life for people who live in the borough partly through looking after our open spaces and cracking down on anti-social behaviour problems in the area.

Clive Smitheram
Tel: 020 8224 9226. Email: csmitheram@epsom-ewell.gov.uk
Clive has lived in West Ewell with his wife Gill for nearly 30 years. They have 2 married children who both attended local schools and now work in the Borough.

Clive has been a Councillor for 8 years. He works for a neighbouring authority as Community Safety Officer following 30 years in the Police Service. This background has given Clive valuable experience in promoting a safe environment for all West Ewell residents to live.

Being on the Planning Committee has demonstrated how we can endeavour to protect our open spaces and oppose back-land development, whilst allowing sensible and necessary housing to take place. As a member of the licensing panel he has had a busy year hearing applications for new licenses, the result of the new legislation on the extension of licensing hours.

Taking pride in how we all should try to live harmoniously together, valuing each other, will continue to be a number 1 priority and being a governor at 2 schools is an important factor in ensuring that this is encouraged from an early age.

On a personal level Clive enjoys Rugby, is an active member of All Saints Church and loves spending time with his family, particularly his young grandchildren.

Jean Steer
Tel: 020 8393 6851. Email: jsteer@epsom-ewell.gov.uk
Jean has lived in West Ewell for over 18 years. Recently widowed she has two married sons and five grandchildren. Since being elected in 1995 Jean has served on the Leisure Committee as Chairman, Social Committee, Licensing, and the Hospital Cluster Group. Jean is Chairman of Age Concern Epsom and Ewell and a Governor at Southfield Park Primary School. Jean’s interests have been in Leisure, particularly promoting activities for young people, the protection of our parks and open spaces and care of the elderly. She is committed to working on behalf of the community and strongly believes that local affairs are best run by local residents free from party politics.
